We are calling for participants for “Global Goals Jam* 2021 Online”, a 2-day online workshop to think about sustainability globally and generate ideas for solving local issues!<\/p>\n
(What is Global Goals Jam? : The United Nations declared the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, and the Decade of Action to achieve the SDGs began in 2020. Global Goals Jam is one of the global efforts to contribute people’s creative ideas and power to the SDGs.)<\/p>\n
The theme for 2021 is “Trans-local: online linkage across regions .”Featuring projects in Fukuoka, Kyoto, Yamaguchi, Oita, Kagoshima, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, participants will work together on issues in each Asian city from their homes or offices focusing on their local challenges and sharing the perspectives of the stakeholders of the issues.<\/p>\n
Participants will also be challenged to design and facilitate “sustainable online group work” that includes a distributed prototype system that takes advantage of remote environments and breaks and chats to reduce the excessive state of concentration and physical strain associated with long hours of online connection.<\/p>\n
\u3010Summary\u3011 \u3010Six Questions\u3011 1. Going to school is not everything. What is a society where everyone can learn by self-selection? Not going to school should not be a bad thing. But what can we do about the word itself, which carries a negative image and as a result of isolation? What can we do to explore the various backgrounds of individuals who feel uncomfortable at school and make all participants think about a ” diverse learning environment” where all children can learn and become independent adults in their own way as if it were their own?<\/p>\n 2. What kind of inclusive plays can everyone enjoy together? Ms. Yamada and her team are working to establish an inclusive park in Kyoto (a playground that everyone can enjoy, regardless of disability). If children with various backgrounds are present in the park where everyone gathers from a young age, and if they naturally accept each other’s differences, society will become more inclusive. As a first step toward making all places inclusive, what kind of plays can everyone enjoy?<\/p>\n 3. How might we positively create a mechanism to change the relationship between urban and rural areas positively entirely. Ms. Fukuda works as a designer in Yabakei, Oita. She purchased the land to take action to solve the distortion between the city and the countryside! This year, she wants to develop concrete ideas for what she can do with this land. She wants to create a country with a positive and friendly atmosphere! And who would like to join in her scheme to change the relationship between the city and the countryside?<\/p>\n 4. How might we implement a circular economy in society? Satsuma Future Commons is a project to create an experimental city of circular economy in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima, Japan, initiated by Satsumasendai City, Kyushu University, and Re-Public to design a circular economy system with citizen participation. This project has just begun, and they would like to work not only with Satsumasendai City but with people from various other regions. So let’s think together about what kind of experiments we can conduct when we replace the project with our respective communities.<\/p>\n \u2010Challenge Theme from Kuala Lumpur (conducted in English on the days)- Taman Keramat AU2 Pangsapuri is one of the urban poor in Kuala Lumpur.\u00a0 By starting a collective community farm, various positive impacts are being generated in the community. However, the river in the area remains polluted by the surrounding industries. Can destructive development be halted and a place restored for the local community and all people? How can we create a sustainable ecosystem that interweaves local lifestyles, urban agriculture, and healthy tourism?<\/p>\n 6. How might we change people’s attitudes toward waste disposal and stop the destruction of landfills? Panerai, a Malaysian company that has developed Asher, a machine that turns garbage into ash, aims to create a recycling system by breaking down waste into ash that can be reused as a fertilizer for the environment without burning it. We want to figure out how to get people to dispose of their trash at Asher instead of dumping it in landfills. For example, can we design a process that encourages people to take responsibility for their own garbage to be used to make money?
