The Asia Digital Art Award Fukuoka (ADAA) is a media art competition organized primarily by Kyushu University, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Fukuoka City, which started in 2001 as a space for discovering and cultivating creators possessing the high-level skills and sensitivity digital content creation demands from Northern Kyushu.

For this competition marking the 20th annual event, we received submissions of 512 works from 20 countries and regions, and a total of 60 works were selected to receive awards, in addition to the Asia Digital Art Award. There were five works from Kyushu University which received awards, including Category Grand Award, the Fukuoka Governor’s Award.

Please note that the Moving Images Category[UC1.1] exhibition planned at NHK Fukuoka Broadcasting Station, as well as the symposium, award ceremony, and reception planned for Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Fukuoka Art Museum, were canceled in light of the spread of COVID-19.

The award-winning works were announced on the official Asia Digital Art Award FUKUOKA website, and an exhibition of the award-winning works was held at the Fukuoka Art Museum (1-6 Ohori Koen, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City) from Tuesday, February 16 to Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
