The Asia Digital Art Award Fukuoka (ADAA) is a media art competition organized primarily by Kyushu University, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Fukuoka City, which started in 2001 as a space for discovering and cultivating creators possessing the high-level skills and sensitivity digital content creation demands from Northern Kyushu.
This year, entries were received from 22 countries and regions totaling 893 works. Following a rigorous judging process, 54 works were selected for awards, along with 7 works selected for the AIAA Award. The exhibition of award-winning works was held at the Fukuoka Art Museum over five days, attracting 1,112 visitors.
This year marks the 22nd year of the Asia Digital Art Award FUKOKA and as a space for high-quality expression of media technology from Fukuoka to the world, it has grown into one of the world’s most competitive media arts competitions. The concept of this exhibition is rich expression of art with an Asian touch using the most advanced and cutting-edge media technology. Besides anticipating new forms of expression making use of artistic sensibilities based on logical thinking, the event also aims to create mutual networks of creators through media art.

Exhibition of Award-Winning Works
The award-winning works were exhibited for the first time in the Special Exhibition Room at the Fukuoka Art Museum, the same venue that hosts major temporary exhibitions. As another first, a dedicated display space was created for the Asia Digital Art Award grand prize-winning work, with a specially commissioned installation expressing the world of the work across both virtual and real dimensions. AI works were also exhibited simultaneously at a metaverse venue and at the museum, creating a space where visitors could experience the pieces in both virtual and physical form. The number of works submitted by award recipients was higher than in previous years*, making this an especially rewarding exhibition in terms of the volume of works on display.
*Compared over the past five years; the 2019/2020 joint exhibition count has been divided between the two respective years.
