[Summary of Activities]
The Swachh Bharat campaign has been launched in India to make the nation cleaner, but it has not yet led to the achievement of a cleaner urban environment. (Photo 1.) Kyushu University has been offering proposals based on a design perspective for the social issues faced by India, and in the 2019 academic year, a program called Swachhata Abhiyan was held at a public elementary school in the city of Bhiwandi to develop a cleaning education program together with LS-Partners Co.,Ltd., a company schooled in the situation of Indian society with an ongoing cooperative relationship. We also proposed a program called the Project for the Technology Transfer and Habituation Support of Development Methods for a Cleaning Education Program to Contribute to Promoting Clean India for a program by JICA calling for grassroots support programs, and were selected, in 2021. This program aimed to habituate the social application of the cleaning education programs we had designed to date and to transfer the design methods thereof to the local members. In the 2023 academic year, we intend to break down the plan into specifics and put it into effect after concluded the contract with JICA, but before concluding that contract, we coordinated with local NGO and the stakeholders at two local public elementary schools in Bhiwandi and took a local tour.
