Kyushu University School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation (Note 1) and the “SDGs Design Unit” of the Faculty of Design jointly held their first “SDGs Design School” on March 31, 2018.
The theme of the design workshop we conducted at the camp welcoming new students of the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation was “Solving Humanity’s Problems!”
The 136 students and faculty members formed 17 goal-based teams to develop ideas and solutions for achieving the SDGs using the “Design Idea Method” (Note 2). The educational activities for the future we will create together have finally begun.
The “SDGs Design School” will continue to offer a variety of programs for university students as well as elementary school students and adults to “solve the challenges of humanity! We will implement a variety of programs.

(Note 1) New faculty was established in April 2008 (enrollment capacity of 105 students). In an increasingly complex and diverse global society, we will work with diverse people to integrate different perspectives and academic knowledge. Together, we will work to develop human resources who can conceive and create new innovations.

(Note 2) The “Design Idea Method” is a method of generating ideas by drawing (Shigeki Inoue, “Design Idea”). (Shigeki Inoue, “Good Ideas Will Come! , Nihon Keizai Shimbun Publishing, 2017)
