TRAiART

Recruitment is underway for artworks from Japan and abroad! Industry, academia, and government come together in a new initiative by Trial Holdings, Kyushu University, and Miyawaka (Fukuoka Prefecture) to take on the challenge of new art.

Trial Holdings, Inc., the Miyawaka municipal government (Fukuoka Prefecture), and Center for Designed Futures of Kyushu University/Kyushu University Faculty of Design will jointly hold the TRAiART 1st Miyawaka International Art Triennial, an event that will feature an international art competition for students.

Surrounded by abundant nature, the city of Miyawaka developed with the automobile industry at its center. Looking at the future beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, the city will develop commercial facilities that utilize closed schools to lead the revitalization of the region.

The theme of the event is “Connect.” What sorts of relationship will we connect to our lifestyles, regions, cultures, companies, and so on in an era when everything is undergoing new transformations? The event is looking for artworks that depict the appeal of Miyawaka and a vision for the coming era.

Winning works will be exhibited at the closed Kasamatsu Elementary School and closed Miyata West Junior High School from June 2021 to May 2024. Works by young artists active mainly in Kyushu will also be exhibited at the facilities, with plans for a triennale that will draw many people from outside Miyawaka.

Please see the Miyawaka International Art Triennale special website (https://www.trial-net.co.jp/TRAiART/) for information on TRAiART and the student competition.
